Knowing which laws apply and what to do first
A practical grounding in the U.S. employment law that small and mid-sized employers cannot afford to get wrong. The course works through the compliance landscape, the Fair Labor Standards Act wage and hour rules, FMLA, ADA, and the way leave laws overlap in real cases. It closes with a hands-on activity for putting AI to work inside the compliance workflow without creating new risk.
Who Should Attend
HR generalists, office managers, and small business owners who carry compliance responsibility without a legal team behind them.
Participants leave ready to: Apply the three-part FLSA test to a real role to determine exemption status Calculate the rolling-backward 12-month FMLA period and determine when the employer's obligation starts Formulate a response to an ADA accommodation request from a plain-language trigger and distinguish when to escalate Analyze a leave request involving FMLA, ADA, and Workers' Comp to determine first actions and the right escalation path Assess an AI-generated policy output against the three guardrails before use Diagnose practice-over-policy misalignment and take the first corrective step
