About the Instructors
David Siler is the founder and Managing Partner of Distinctive HR, Inc. He is the author and creator of the DHR learning system for HR certification. He has 40 years’ experience as a senior level HR practitioner and 30 years' experience guiding candidates through the HR cert-prep process. He currently holds all the major certifications from both HRCI and SHRM. David is considered a thought leader in the field of HR and is an award-winning lecturer on the subject. He was an HR executive with a Fortune 100 organization prior to dedicating his career to HR certification. He has a Master’s degree in Psychology.
 
Since 2012, Ken Defeo has been with Distinctive HR, Inc. as an instructor teaching exam preparation programs. Holding both the SPHR and the SHRM-SCP, Ken has also been working in compensation and benefits for over 27 years. He is currently the Vice President for APAC Compensation with GXO Logistics, Inc. Some examples of his functional areas of expertise include: Strategic Planning • Compensation and Benefits • Affirmative Action • Compliance • Employment Law • Talent Acquisition • Employee Relations • Employee Engagement • Talent Management. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics.
 
Brittany Siler has 7+years of experience in all areas of HR certification preparation. As one of the candidates in the first group to take the aPHR exam she has successfully obtained all the HRCI and SHRM core certifications (aPHR, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, & SHRM-SCP). She is currently SPHR and SHRM-SCP certified. Brittany has participated in the inception of new instructor led programs, edited quiz and text materials, as well as created instructional videos. She has experience teaching for a major university and has brought that knowledge to DHR where she is one of our aPHR and HR Certification instructors. She has a BS in animal science and a BA in psychology.
Nick Tatarian has 7+ years of HR experience in healthcare, medical technology, and retail sectors, bringing a strategic approach to aligning HR initiatives with business goals. He holds SPHR and SHRM-SCP certifications and a degree in Psychology. He is currently the HR Manager for US operations at XVIVO, a global leader in medical technology, overseeing all facets of human resources, including payroll, benefits, employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, policy development, learning and development, and compensation.
